old games...
Ladies and Gentlemen, it does not get any better than this.
Let it be known that my PC isn't exactly short on horsepower. Dual-core chip, 4GB of RAM, a 640MB Graphics card, two 20in LCDs, and more hard drive space than anyone in their right mind would know what to do with.
And what am I doing with all of that horsepower? Playing Doom.
No, not Doom 3. Doom.
Doom came on a floppy. Doom didn't require you to have a graphics card. You didn't need directx, you didn't set your texture options. Doom assumed your PC would boot. If that was true, then you could play.
id Software's entire games collection went up on Steam over the weekend and you can buy every game they ever made for $60. I am having the time of my life. I played some Wolfenstein 3D earlier, and I'm wading through Doom II at the moment. What joy. If you want your nostalgia, this is it.
